The 150-minute target
For many adults with diabetes, regular physical activity is an important part of overall management. The American Diabetes Association describes a target of at least 150 minutes of physical activity per week for most people, alongside strength training sessions.
How to make it practical
- Break weekly activity into manageable sessions.
- Include walking or other aerobic activity.
- Add strength training where medically appropriate.
- Avoid treating exercise as a substitute for medication or individualized medical care.
Your exercise plan should account for medications, complications, fitness level and medical advice.
